讲座简介:
The global infrastructure sector is booming with AU$100B in projects set for delivery over the next decade in Australia alone –double that delivered in any previous infrastructure boom. China’s One Belt, One Road Initiative leads this charge globally, with a planned US$1 trillion in infrastructure investment. But as the pace and scale of delivery increases, so too does the pressure on communities. This friction has contributed to the mothballing, cancellation or delay of more than $20B in Australian projects over the past decade - impacting investor confidence, costing jobs and impacting the mental and physical wellbeing of both project staff and community members.
Despite the obvious tangible and intangible costs associated with these complex challenges, little evidence exists to determine whether more effective community engagement and public participation could improve community and project outcomes. The Next Generation Engagement Project aims to address this knowledge gap by developing a robust, industry-led, shared evidence base to inform the future of community engagement for infrastructure project selection, planning and delivery.
